Minutes
Planning Commission
March 13, 1985
Until a development plan is approved for the 10 acre Auf der
Maur property, all allowed and conditionally allowed uses of
the A (Agricultural) District shall be permitted or
conditionally permitted.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Getty, Lindsey, Wellman,Wilson and
Chairman Doherty
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioner Innes
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. 2629 was entered and adopted recommending
prezoning as described in Case RZ-85-6 and recommended by staff.
Z-85-59, Bill Hirst et al
Application of Bill Hirst et al for design review approval for a
comprehensive sign program at 235, 239 and 243 Main Street
(Downtown Center). Zoning for the property is C-C/C-O (Central
Commercial/Civic Overlay) District.
Mr. Harris presented the staff report. He stated that Mr. Hirst
will not be present tonight but that he has indicated to Mr.
Harris that he agrees with the staff report.
Commissioner Getty asked if the sign is similar to the ones on
the existing building on Old Bernal Avenue where there are 10
tenants and the sign drags to the ground.
The public hearing was opened.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Getty asked if the proposed signing matches the
existing signs on the other part of the shopping center. Mr.
Harris stated that it does not. This was discussed by Mr. Hirst
and Mr. Early and they could not agree to conform their sign
program.
Chairman Doherty felt it to be in the best interest to have a
comprehensive sign program for the entire shopping center. Mr.
Harris explained that Mr. Early would not agree to a parking
agreement and that is why a application has been made for a
parking variance. Mr. Early agrees to share parking verbally but
will not sign a written document.
Commissioner Lindsey preferred that the issue of signing be
continued so that Mr. Hirst can try to get Mr. Early to agree to
a comprehensive signing program for the entire center.
This matter was then continued to 3/27/85.
MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW
There was none.
- 10 -
