Minutes <br />Planning Commission <br />2/27/85 <br />Commissioner Getty asked Mr. McVicar if he had any problem with <br />Condition No. 2. Mr. McVicar stated that they do not have any <br />problems with this regard. <br />Commissioner Innes said the City has already approved 1040 rooms <br />not including the Super 8 and Super 6 and questioned the need for <br />more hotel rooms. <br />Mr. Pernell, consultant, said this will be an outstanding hotel <br />for the area which will cater to the high level executive who <br />will be coming to the community. Pacific Fish will provide an <br />outstanding restaurant. Their hotel will be four diamond rated. <br />Commissioner Lindsey asked if it wouldn't be better to have the <br />hotel closer to the business parks. Mr. McVicar stated that <br />there will be a high level of activity in the SToneridge Area, <br />both at Mozart and what is currently going on. Their marketing <br />report supports this location. <br />Chairman Doherty stated the City has approved approximately 1080 <br />rooms. Howard Johnson has 80 plus rooms, plus Super 8 and Hotel <br />6. He asked if the hotel consulting firm considered those rooms <br />into their figures when considering if the project was viable. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />Commissioner Innes questioned the European architecture of the <br />building in that whether or not it would blend with the Farmers <br />or Holiday Inn buildings. Mr. Harris stated it staff did not <br />feel that this would cause any problem as the area has no <br />definitive theme. <br />Commissioner Innes felt the architecture was beautiful but <br />questions whether or not it would be appropriate at the proposed <br />location. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wilson that the mitigated negative declaration prepared for Case <br />PUD-84-22 be recommended for approval inasmuch as project <br />approval may have a potentially significant effect on the <br />environment but that conditions imposed upon project approval <br />would reduce any potentially significant effects to an <br />insignificant level. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Getty, Wilson and Chairman Doherty <br />NOES: Commissioners Innes and Lindsey <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Resolution No. 2612 was entered and adopted recommending approval <br />of the mitigated negative declaration for Case PUD-84-22 as <br />motioned. <br />- 5 - <br />T <br />
