Minutes
Planning Commission
June 24, 1987
REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA
Mr. Lee asked that items 6(f) through 6(j) be continued to
July 8, 1987. Commissioner Michelotti asked if these items were
continued because of the special meting relating to growth
management on July 8, 1987. Mr. Lee stated this is correct. The
Planning Commission then agreed to these continuances as
requested.
Mr. Lee then acknowledged letters and petitions received
regarding various applications.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Chairman Lindsey acknowledged the APA (American Planning
Association) award for Pleasanton's General Plan and asked
Mr. Lee to describe the activity leading up to this award.
Mr. Lee complied and stated among other things that the award was
won for distinguished leadership of the Pleasanton Plan which
resulted from participation of hundreds of citizens of Pleasanton
contributing many hours of hard work to reach the final
Pleasanton Plan over a four-year period.
Commissioner Michelotti commended Mr. Lee and gave a brief
history of Mr. Lee's tenure with the City.
OLD BUSINE88 - Public Hearinas
GP-87-4, Spotorno
Application of Alex Spotorno to amend the Land Use Element
designation of the General Plan from Public Health and Safety to
Low Density Residential for an approximately 160 acre site
located generally in the area northeast of the intersection of
Alisal Street and Happy Valley Road.
Mr. Lee presented the staff report.
Commissioner Mahern asked if this property has always been
designated "Public Health and Safety." Mr. Lee said it has had
this designation since 1972. Mr. Lee stated it has been zoned
Open Space which does not allow residential use, but does allow
agricultural and grazing with a single residential unit for
family living.
The public hearing was opened.
Martin Inderbitzen, 62 West Neal Street, asked that this matter
be put over until August 26, 1987. He has met with a number of
residents of the Happy Valley area and would like to work further
with them on this proposal.
Chairman Lindsey said it has always been the policy of the
Commission over the past years to have the applicants and
property owners get together and try to reach some compromises
wherever possible. He personally would support the continuance.
- 2 -
