Minutes <br />Planning Commission <br />June 24, 1987 <br />REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Mr. Lee asked that items 6(f) through 6(j) be continued to <br />July 8, 1987. Commissioner Michelotti asked if these items were <br />continued because of the special meting relating to growth <br />management on July 8, 1987. Mr. Lee stated this is correct. The <br />Planning Commission then agreed to these continuances as <br />requested. <br />Mr. Lee then acknowledged letters and petitions received <br />regarding various applications. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />Chairman Lindsey acknowledged the APA (American Planning <br />Association) award for Pleasanton's General Plan and asked <br />Mr. Lee to describe the activity leading up to this award. <br />Mr. Lee complied and stated among other things that the award was <br />won for distinguished leadership of the Pleasanton Plan which <br />resulted from participation of hundreds of citizens of Pleasanton <br />contributing many hours of hard work to reach the final <br />Pleasanton Plan over a four-year period. <br />Commissioner Michelotti commended Mr. Lee and gave a brief <br />history of Mr. Lee's tenure with the City. <br />OLD BUSINE88 - Public Hearinas <br />GP-87-4, Spotorno <br />Application of Alex Spotorno to amend the Land Use Element <br />designation of the General Plan from Public Health and Safety to <br />Low Density Residential for an approximately 160 acre site <br />located generally in the area northeast of the intersection of <br />Alisal Street and Happy Valley Road. <br />Mr. Lee presented the staff report. <br />Commissioner Mahern asked if this property has always been <br />designated "Public Health and Safety." Mr. Lee said it has had <br />this designation since 1972. Mr. Lee stated it has been zoned <br />Open Space which does not allow residential use, but does allow <br />agricultural and grazing with a single residential unit for <br />family living. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Martin Inderbitzen, 62 West Neal Street, asked that this matter <br />be put over until August 26, 1987. He has met with a number of <br />residents of the Happy Valley area and would like to work further <br />with them on this proposal. <br />Chairman Lindsey said it has always been the policy of the <br />Commission over the past years to have the applicants and <br />property owners get together and try to reach some compromises <br />wherever possible.
