Minutes
Planning Commission
Wednesday, April 22, 1987
achieve their goals. He was surprised to learn that Cameron was
coming through, but had no concerns with streets being public or
private. They do not want any streets widened however. He asked
that they be allowed to work with the Planning Commission, Shea
Homes, etc. for development of the area.
Jerry Jennaro, 3727 Mohr Avenue, stated this is a complicated
project on which no one has done their homework, i.e., some
people wanted the trees saved, others wanted sidewalks, some
wanted no sidewalks, etc.
Kevin Brabee, 3652 Kamp Drive, asked when a decision on Martin is
made, how they can be assured they will be notified.
Chairman Lindsey asked that Mr. Brabee and any others who wished
to be notified to give their name and address to the Recording
Secretary who will make sure such persons are notified.
Glenn Hulett, 2201 Martin Avenue, stated he had previously left
word to be notified, and never was. Mr. Hulett said he has a
real problem with the Mohr House being in his front yard. Mr.
Hulett felt the Cameron issue to be a big problem, and if Martin
goes in as a public street it will effect his front yard.
Mrs. Hulett, 2201 Martin Avenue, stated that the homeowners
shouldn't have to take the liability for Martin Avenue going
through.
Herb Singleton, 2207 Martin Avenue, 9 1/2 year resident of Martin
Avenue, stated he checked with the neighbors concerning this
matter and the Lauer's and others are out of town, but they have
asked Mr. Singleton to speak on their behalf. He said there was
never any thought in his mind that Cameron would not go through.
It was a surprise to him when he found out it wasn't a public
street. The people he represented have indicated they would use
Cameron if it was viable going north and would prefer the road
stay narrow. The lots have been in existence for 9 1/2 years and
there have been no problems with the narrowness of the streets.
Mr. Singleton reported that Mrs. Selway asked that he read a
letter from her to the Commission. Mr. Singleton complied -
"...if there was to be no barriers or controls, there should be
no reason why people who live on it should be financially
responsible for it..."
Malcolm West, 3653 Kamp Drive, stated as a practical matter, he
was concerned with all narrow residential streets and what will
happen should the traffic jam.
Linda Kleinsasser, 7477 Aspen Court, stated she was interested in
purchasing property in the bas Homes' area. Ms. Kleinsasser
urged the application be recommended for approval and the streets
be deemed public inasmuch as there are no controls. On Foothill
Road there are private streets, but they are gated and access is
regulated while the streets in question are not regulated. She
urged the City allow a variance for the street width.
- 9 -
