Minutes
Planning Commission
Wednesday, April 22, 1987
Commissioner Tarver discussed Cameron not going through as
planned.
Commissioner Michelotti reiterated that the City would allow
public streets if the street. width would meet City standards.
The issue also is a trade off as to what is important for an area
vs what is important for the overall City. She agreed that if
Cameron is put through, it would be a street which could not be
controlled. Commissioner Michelotti indicated she would support
a proposal to cul-de-sac Cameron Drive, keeping the streets
widths to maintain the rural atmosphere. Chairman Lindsey asked
if Commissioner Michelotti would support private or public
streets. Commissioner Michelotti stated she would like to hold
on that for other comments of the Commissioners.
Commissioner Berger shared the concerns of the area. Traffic is
a major problem with Cameron configured the way it is. She
couldn't support }public streets unless they were widened to City
specifications. As to the cul-de-sac (Cameron) that is another
issue. Cameron would have to meet City specifications if it is
public. She felt that it would be very optimistic to not allow
parking on either side of a 28' wide road.
Commissioner Hoyt suggested that because of the nature of the
area, Cameron Street be stubbed off, and that all streets be
public and remain at the width of 28'.
Mr. Swift stated that staff suggests a maintenance fee be paid up
front to cover the cost of maintenance of the roads for 10 years.
Mr. Swift also stated that if the Planning Commission is
interested in having Cameron Drive a cul-de-sac, the matter must
be advertised for the next Planning Commission meeting.
A motion was made by Chairman Lindsey, seconded by Commissioner
Hoyt to recommend approval subject to the conditions of the staff
report deleting No. 2 as written and substituting "That the
developer shall pay a fee at the time of street dedication to
cover the cost of street repair for 10 years for all streets
changed to public streets as determined by the City Engineer,"
and that the Planning Commission initiates an application to
cul-de-sac Cameron Street, and that this matter shall come before
the Planning Commission hearing of May 13, 1987.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners
Lindsey
NOES: Commissioner
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Hoyt, Michelotti, Tarver, and Chairman
Berger
Resolution No. PC-87-45 was entered and adopted recommending
approval of Case PUD-83-10-3M/83-12-2M as motioned.
- 11 -
