AI Bronzini, 719 Main Street, a 4-,Year resident, spoke in favor <br />of the Redevelopment Flan. He said the plan is not designed to <br />take people's homes away, but that the plan protected owners' <br />property rights, He said that if certain property was needed, <br />the owner would be appropriately compensated. He would <br />definite2}~ be opposed to simply taking peoples' property. He <br />stated this is a financial mechanism whereby sidewalks, streets, <br />storm drains, etc. could be repaired. <br />Brent Wilcox, 3988 Stanley Blvd. spoke neither for nor against <br />the Redevelopment Flan. He spoke for the improvement of Arroyo <br />Del Valle as being an important asset for Pleasanton. <br />Stanley Rathbone, 325 Ray Street, expressed opposition to the <br />Redevelopment Flan. He said his property is on a map or list to be <br />taken; he requested that it be declared a heritage property and <br />removed from the Redevelopment Plan. <br />Bertie Bianche, 4329 Railroad Street, also expressed great <br />opposition to the plan. She said her homestead is also designed <br />to go and said it was to go for a parking lot. <br />Commissioner Mahern asked her if she and Mr. Rathbone would lose <br />their homes. Ms. Bianchi said they would. <br />Stanley Rathbone, 125 Fray Street, appeared again at the podium. <br />He said there is no guarantee that the Redevelopment Plan would <br />work. He cited the cities of Pomona and Hayward. <br />Commissioner Mahern asked Mr. Rathbone if he would lose his <br />residence if the Flan went into effect. He said he would. <br />Gene Finch, 15 Deer Oak, sympathized with people who were having <br />a problem regarding their homes. He thought there was some <br />confusion about the number of homes affected. He felt the <br />Redevelopment Flan was still the best way to finance the <br />downtown needs and asked far support of the Plan. <br />Brad Hirst, b280 W. Las Fositas, favored adoption of the <br />F:edevelopment Plan. He thought it was a chance to revitalize <br />downtown Pleasanton and a necessary vehicle in which to raise <br />capital improvements. He said repair and repiacement of sewer <br />lines cannot be paid far by individual business owners <br />downtown. He completely supported adoption of the Plan and felt <br />the money should be kept downtown. <br />Commissioner Hovingh asked Mr. Hirst about money for the school <br />district_ Mr. Hirst said that Zone 7 and Chabot might lase a <br />little. <br />Thurman Caudill of Pleasanton returned to the podium.
