Commissioner Tarver wondered if ~4UC~ per unit was sufficient. Chairman Michelotti asked if the City has considered changing the :~4c~G pal2cy. Mr. Swift said it has not been considered since 1978. Discussion ensued as to what other cities collect for housing needs. Commissioner Tarver suggested that staff look into what is appropriate and come back with a recommendation. He felt the consensus kaas that :~4~JC3 per unit was not enough to achieve the desired results. Mr. Swift felt it would be better to delay this until the City lao~.s at the Housing Element which is programmed for the near future. Chairman Michelotti suggested that the Commission schedule a meeting to discuss the topic of affordable housing and how to actually obtain it. She noted that Commissioner Mahern, Tarver, and herself had attended a meeting with a group from St. Augustine Church. A motion was made by Commissioner Mahern, seconded by Chairman Michelotti to recommend approval of the {Negative Declaration prepared for Case GF'-88-7 as approval of this project would have an insignificant effect on the environment; finding that the proposed General Plan amendment is consistent with the goals and policies of the General Plan, and recommending approval of Case GF'-88-7 to amend the Hausinq Element of .the General Plan.
