Section 20. <br /> <br />Education Incentive Pay proqram <br /> <br />20.1 <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The purpose of this plan is to reward those eligible employees <br />who have obtained a specific level of educational achievement in <br />an area related to their job and, in so doing, have become better <br />qualified to discharge the duties of their respective positions. <br /> <br />20.2 <br /> <br />Eliqible Applicants <br /> <br />Persons eligible to enroll in the Educational Incentive Plan have <br />met all of the following requirements: <br /> <br />ae <br /> <br />Are permanent (non-probationary) employees with the City of <br />Pleasanton. (Employees on probationary status as a result <br />of promotions shall be deemed eligible under this plan.) <br /> <br />Be <br /> <br />Have met all requirements of their position as set forth <br />in the City's Classification Plan in effect at the time <br />the employee was hired. <br /> <br />Intend to pursue an educational level related to his/her <br />present position as determined by the Educational <br />Standards Committee. <br /> <br />De <br /> <br />Ail new employees hired by the city after the date of <br />adoption by the City Council of this revised Educational <br />Incentive Plan shall be eligible for education incentive <br />pay for eligible degrees or college credits earned prior <br />to their date of employment at the time they reach the top <br />step of the classification's salary range. <br /> <br />NOTE: Job relatedness shall pertain to both the <br />relationship of the field of study to the position held <br />by the employee and, the relevance of the education level <br />to the employee's position. <br /> <br />20.3 <br /> <br />Education Standards Committee <br /> <br />An Educational Standards Committee comprised of the PCEA <br />President, Personnel Director and appropriate Department Head <br />shall be established for the purposes of: <br /> <br />Determining the eligibility of each employee to enroll in <br />the Educational Incentive Program. <br /> <br />Be <br /> <br />Determining in advance of enrollment in the Educational <br />Incentive Program the job relatedness of the educational <br />level the employee intends to pursue. <br /> <br />- 27 - <br /> <br /> <br />
