15.6 Lonq Term Disability Insurance <br /> <br />Effective May 1, 1990, the City shall contribute an amount <br />necessary to provide long-term disability insurance under the <br />present Canada Life group policy or an acceptable alternative <br />plan for the individual full-time employee; provided, however, <br />that in no event shall the city be obligated to contribute an <br />amount in excess of one dollar and eighty-nine cents ($1.89) per <br />one-hundred dollars ($100) of monthly salary of the first $2,500 <br />of monthly salary not to exceed a total contribution of forty- <br />seven dollars and twenty-five cents ($47.25) per month per <br />employee. <br /> <br />As soon as possible but no later than September 1, 1990 the city <br />shall amend its contract with Canada Life to reduce the <br />eligibility waiting period from ninety days to sixty days. The <br />increased cost of this amendment shall be borne by the City. <br /> <br />15.7 <br /> <br />Health and Welfare Benefit Continuation <br /> <br />Employees off work due to verifiable personal illness and <br />having exhausted their accrued sick leave benefits set forth in <br />Section 13 shall continue their eligibility for health and <br />welfare payments in accordance with Section 15. Employees off <br />work on leaves of absence without pay shall not be eligible for <br />said health and welfare benefit payments. <br /> <br />15.8 <br /> <br />Child Care Task Force <br /> <br />The City will establish a Task Force to review the needs of City <br />employees for child care. All employee groups will be invited to <br />participate by designating one representative to serve on the <br />task force. The Personnel Analyst and the representative <br />assigned by the PCEA shall be requested by the city to co-chair <br />the task force. <br /> <br />Section 16 Retirement <br /> <br />During the term of this contract, the city shall continue to <br />provide the PERS "Credit for unused sick leave option" and to <br />local miscellaneous members Section 21382.2 1959 survivor <br />benefits. <br /> <br />Effective March 1, 1982, the City shall pay the employee's <br />contribution to the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS). <br />The amount of said City payment shall equal, but not exceed seven <br />percent (7%) of the employee's compensation subject to retirement <br />contributions. <br /> <br />For the one police clerk, and the supervising police clerk <br />currently enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement System's <br />"public safety retirement program," the city shall pay their <br />contribution to PERS.
