The <br />IZut(}166e Altamont Landoll Settlement Agreement created the Altamont Education Advisory Board to propose <br />, allocation of funds in the Education Account for recycling education programs, job training in the field of <br />~C <br />,~ waste prevention and recycling and mitigating the impacts of the landfill operations in the affected <br />('(air community. Funds generated from the 50.28 per ton surcharge amount to approximately $325,000 annually. <br /> 'T'here are five voting members on the Education Advisory Board: one appointed by the Livermore City <br />tZo6ert _Stans6nry Council; one appointed by the Pleasanton City Council; two appointed by NCRA; and the Alameda County <br />Cit o Lrrermore <br />yf" Recycling Board's environmental educator. <br />`L'ice-c(air I he role of the Education Advisory Board is to annually propose the allocation of funds from the Education <br /> Account by submitting an Expenditure Plan by April I of each yeas Concurrence of Alameda County, the <br /> cities of Livermore and Pleasanton, and NCRA in the Expenditure Plan is necessary before funds are <br />Stlars(a,Jorres allocated. <br />City of~t~leasantort Funds are collected from the Altamont Landfill by the Alameda County Treasurer. The Expenditure Plan <br /> proposed the following allocations: <br />;L(ar(<Spencer Mini-grants* $10,000 <br />ACarnerfa County Project grants $225,000 <br />47etycling Board guard initiated projects $65,000 <br /> ALARM mitigation projects $10,000 <br /> Fund administration __ $15,000 <br />S(aron/trrreric( TOTAL $325,000 <br />Gtaison *Additional mini-grants were awarded from unexpended funds allocated for the 2004-OS and 2005-2006 fiscal <br /> years held by the City of Livermore. <br /> Based on the allocation established by the Expenditure Plan, the Education Advisory Board released a Request <br /> for Grant Applications for mini-grants and project grants pursuant to the guidelines established in the <br /> settlement agreement. <br /> Mini-grants <br /> I~he Education Advisory Board awarded sixteen mini-grants for projects meeting the grant criteria, as follows: <br /> Amador High School, Pleasanton -- $2,000 for DECA Marketing Research <br /> Amador High School, Pleasanton -- $3,500 VHS Video Production <br /> Amador Valley Go Green Recycling Program -- $'_,500 to implement Go Green programs. <br /> Livermore High School -- $2,500 to study the effectiveness of types of composting <br /> Livermore High School -- $2,500 to initiate the Recycling Club <br /> Lydiksen Elementary School, Pleasanton -- $500 for Lydikson Blooms! <br /> Marilyn Avenue Elementary School, Livermore four $1,500 mini-grants and one $2,500 mini-grant to <br /> five different classroom teachers for Greening Marilyn Avenue. <br /> SL Joseph's Community, Alameda -- $2,500 for St. Joseph's Green Initiative. <br /> Total Recycling Association -- $2,500 to improve the Introduction to Recycling course textbook <br />
