Total Recycling Association -- $2,500 to conduct mattress recycling education <br />Walnut Grove Elementary, Pleasanton -- $2,500 for the outdoor learning center <br />Wee Poets -- $2,000 to produce "Recycling Our Throwaways" <br />A total of $31,000 was awarded from the mini-grant total flmding allocation of $54,015 (including a $44,015 fund <br />balance from the prior hvo fiscal years) leaving a fund balance of $23,015. "I"he Board has reissued the mini-grant <br />application announcement and will entertain applications for mini-grants throughout the year. hi 2006, the funding cap for <br />mini-grants of $2,500 increased the popularity of the mini-grants over prior years. The 3007 lxpenditure Plan <br />recommends allocating $30,000 in new funding for the mini-grant program. Funds remaining from the 3006 mini-grant <br />allocation can be used for mini-grants awarded in 3007. <br />Project Grants <br />The Education Advisory Board awarded ten project grants to the following projects: <br />Amador High School, Pleasanton -- $35,906 for the recycling education program, including the purchase of recycling <br />containers; <br />Camp Arroyo -- $25,000 to support the campcrship program fro underprivileged youth; <br />F,arth Team -- $12,000 to support Our Schools Our Planet as a sustainable schools video project for teens; <br />Friends of Outdoor Recreation -- $20,000 to support catnperships at Catnp Arroyo for underprivileged youth; <br />Hearst Elementary, Pleasanton -- $25,000 to support the schoolwide environmental classroom project, including <br />recycling program infrastructure and garden supplies; <br />Kids for the Bay -- $20,000 to bring the 4 R's Action Program- --Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot to thirty teachers and <br />nine hundred students in low income, urban schools in Alameda County; <br />North Oakland Community Charter School -- $16,730 to fund the Environmental Stewardship and Leadership <br />initiative <br />Livermore High School -- $15,000 for recycling stations to improve campus recycling. <br />Pleasanton Unified School District -- $16,000 to fund the Environmental Awareness program recycling infrastructure <br />project, including the purchase of recycling containers throughout the district; <br />SF Environment -- $17,250 for the Food to Flowers Program for custodial stipends and project supplies for a lunchroom <br />composting program; <br />A total of $199,886 was awarded from the project grant total funding allocation of $225,000. In addition, the Board has <br />made a tentative award of $20,000 to the Alameda County Fair to improve recycling and recycling education at the <br />fairgrounds. <br />Board Initiated Projects <br />The Board solicited a proposal from the Chabot Space and Science Center to expand its environmental internship program <br />to include more joh training elements and outreach to and participation from Cal State Fast Bay and the Peralta <br />Community College District. $49,550 was awarded from the Board initiated projects total funding allocation of $65,000. <br />ALARM Mitigation Projects <br />Pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement, the 2006 <br />Expenditure Plan allocated $10,000 for mitigation projects for <br />landowners in the vicinity of the landfill. 'Che Education <br />Advisory Board corresponded with ALARM (Altamont <br />Landowners Against Rural Mismanagement) to notify them of <br />the available funding. No applications were submitted for <br />consideration during the 2006 funding cycle.
