Mr. Dunn requested the Committee further discuss the suggestions and recommendations that had been
made earlier by Mr. Rose for location of the trail. He felt that bike lanes should be included in specific
areas.
Mr. Shaper indicated that he could support either Options 1 or 2 as a temporary Iron Horse Trail
connection, with the understanding that the original trail is the preferred option. He also asked that
additional traffic information be provided to the Committee.
Mr. Quigley agreed that the original planned trail location is the preferred option of the Committee.
A motion was made by Mr. Quigley, seconded by Mr. Jones, recommending Option 2, as described in
the staff report, as an interim solution to connect the BART station to the Iron Horse Trail segment at
Santa Rita Road; without the Arroyo Mocho ramp connection; that striping and signage be included; that
consideration be given to including a bike lane in the bus lane; consideration be given to routing the
connector north on Santa Rita Road to West Las Positas Boulevard; and that Option 3 continue to be
pursued.
Mr. Dunn indicated he had some concerns with Option 2 and would prefer to include parts of Option 1.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Compton, Dunn, Jones, Kolar, Quigley, Shaper, Soberanes, Townsend,
and Chairperson Kummer.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Akinsiku
ABSTAIN: None
C.
