The question now becomes "Given all the
potential constraints, what is the best and /or most expedient alignment to get trail users from the BART
station to the segment at Santa Rita Road ?"
There appear to be three (3) options under consideration. Please keep in mind that although the trail
travels through Pleasanton, it would still be an East Bay Regional Park District trail.
Option 1 - Currently Proposed Alignment: The future alignment shown on EBRPD maps is as
follows:
• Begin at Dublin - Pleasanton BART Station. Proceed southeast, through the parking lot, to the
traffic signal on Owens Drive.
• Cross Owens Drive at the traffic signal to the south side of the street.
• Proceed east /southeast on Owens Drive for approximately .88 miles, to West Las Positas
Boulevard.
• Turn right onto West Las Positas (the north side of the road).
• Proceed west on West Las Positas Boulevard for approximately .25 miles to Stoneridge Drive.
• Cross to the south side of Stoneridge Drive, turn left, crossing the street again to reach the
southwest corner of the intersection.
• Proceed east on Stoneridge Drive for approximately .44 miles to Santa Rita Road.
• Cross the street to the cast side of Santa Rita Road.
• Turn right and head south on Santa Rita Road for approximately .15 miles to the entrance of the
Iron Horse Trail on the left side, near the Public Storage facility.
Option 2 — Alternate Alignment Proposed by the Trails Ad Hoc Committee: In October 2005, the
Iron Horse Trail Subcommittee presented a proposal for an alternate alignment, detailed below:
• Begin at Dublin- Pleasanton BART Station. Proceed southeast, through the parking lot, to the
traffic signal on Owens Drive.
• Cross Owens Drive at the traffic signal to the south side of street.
• Proceed east /southeast on Owens Drive for approximately .69 miles.
