Section 16. Educational Incentive Tuition and Book <br /> <br />Reimbursement Program <br /> <br />16.1 <br /> <br />Educational Incentive <br /> <br />Ail regular employees having reached step, E of their <br />classification's pay range are eligible for educational <br />incentive pay for possession of a college degree as <br />specified below: <br /> <br />Classification <br /> <br />Eliqible Deqree <br /> <br />Incentive Pay <br /> <br />Police Officer <br /> <br />AA 2.5% <br />BA/BS 5.0% <br />MS/MA 5.0% <br /> <br />Police Sergeant <br /> <br />BS/BA 5.0% <br />MS/MA 5.0 <br /> <br />The employee's degree must be awarded from a community <br />college, college, or university accredited by the <br />Western Association of Schools and Colleges and be in a <br />recognized academic or professional field as determined <br />by the Chief of Police. The decision of the chief of <br />Police shall be final. <br /> <br />Incentive pay shall be a percentage of the monthly <br />base salary. The maximum incentive pay an employee may <br />receive is five percent. No incentive pay shall be <br />awarded with a grade point average below "C". Should <br />an employee be promoted to a position requiring the <br />degree for which he/she is currently receiving incentive <br />pay said incentive pay shall cease. <br /> <br />To receive incentive pay an employee must submit a copy <br />of his/her diploma, or letter from the college/ <br />university registrar attesting to the award of the <br />degree and a complete official college/university <br />transcript of courses and grades. <br /> <br />Employees with approval to enroll in the educational <br />plan on or before February 28, 1990 shall upon success- <br />ful completion of the approved educational level be <br />entitled to the incentive pay in effect at the time <br />their enrollment was approved. All current employees <br />receiving incentive pay under the previous MOU shall <br />continue to receive that educational incentive pay <br />and this section 16.1 shall apply to all applications <br />for education incentive pay after March 1, 1990. <br /> <br />16.2 <br /> <br />Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br />Regular full time employees shall be eligible for <br />reimbursement of tuition expenses for college or <br />university courses successfully completed with a grade <br />of "C" or better provided said courses have been <br /> <br />Memorandum of Understanding <br />Page 16 <br /> <br /> <br />
