8. Going to mention our two new wineries? <br />[JIJThe following sentence can be added to the end of the last paragraph on p. 10- <br />11. "The Michael Katz Winerv is located at the southern end o Vinevard Avenue. <br />and the future Rubv Hills Winerv will be located at the intersection of Vinevard and <br />Isabel Avenues; together with the extensive ynevard plantings. this development <br />reinforces the `wine countrv' character ofthis area. " <br />9. Going to mention our award winning golf course as a community character definer? <br />[JIJ The following could be added on p.10-2, in the second paragraph under "Edge <br />Environment", before the last sentence: "The Citv's award-winning Callippe <br />Preserve Golf Course is located on rolling hills in South Pleasanton and <br />incorporates Happv Vallev Creek and numerous IarQe oak trees. The golf course is <br />surrounded by publicly-owned open space and trails. " <br />10. Page 10-11, paagraph 3 and 4. If we make such negative connotations about Foothill from <br />the freeway, do we really think that Stanley is beautiful? The trees are dying, the quarry is <br />ugly, and the entrance at Valley is nothing to shout about. What is happening here in the <br />description? <br />[JIJ Certainly community character descriptions can be subjective, and if there is <br />disagreement the descriptions can be changed. The second sentence of the <br />paragraph under Stanley Boulevard could be changed to: "~~~ <br />Starrle3+~eulevar~The Arroyo del Valle Bridge, landscaping, and narrowing of the <br />road width all contribute to the pronounced entry to Downtown Pleasanton. <br />Although efforts have been made to preserve the native black walnut trees located on <br />the north side ofStanley Boulevard iust west of California Avenue, their age is <br />causing their decline; the City should consider developing a plan for their <br />replacement. The Downtown Specihc Plan proposes improvements to this and other <br />gateways into the Downtown. "Also see Program 11.1 which addresses inftlling <br />street trees on City streets. <br />11. Page 10-13, should we mention our new distinctive downtown signage and the signage for <br />the seasons? <br />[JIJ On page 10-13 the following can be added after the last sentence of the <br />paragraph under Public Signage: "In Downtown Pleasanton. distinctive new signs <br />now direct people to additional stores along side streets. Throughout the vear, the <br />Downtown area also displays decorative seasonal banners on streetlight standards. " <br />12. Page 10-14, the Country Fair sound walls are bouquet canyon rock and are very nice <br />compazed to stucco. Maybe we should talk about other sound walls that are bland like the <br />walls along the freeway on Windsor and along West Las Positas as they are ugly!! <br />[JIJThe description can be amended to reflect these comments if desired. <br />13. Page 10-14 under community activities should we mention the Senior Center and the <br />Library? <br />[JIJThose facilities can be added to the list of facilities in paragraph 5 on page 10- <br />14. <br />Goals, Policies and programs: <br />14. Page 10-22, I thought we had decided no monument signage at entry ways as a waste of <br />money. What type of signage is being requested here? <br />[JIJ As explained in the Agenda Report for this item, the Planning Commission was <br />made aware of the City Council 's decision not to install City identification signs. <br />However, the Planning Commission wished to express its support for such signs. <br />
