AdjQUrned Meetings <br /> <br />Ce <br /> <br />me <br /> <br />Any meeting of the City Council may be adjourned to a lamr date, place, <br />and time provided no adjournment is for a longer period than the next <br />regularly scheduled meemug. <br /> <br />Special Meetings <br /> <br />Special meetings may be called by the Mayor or by a majority of the <br />Council members. The call for a special meeting must specify the day, <br />hour, and place and shall spec/fy the subject/subjects to be considex~ as <br />required by law. Twenty-four hours notice must be given prior to the <br />meetings. Only specified maue~ may be discussed at special meelings.. <br /> <br />Closed Session Meetings _ <br /> <br />Closed sessions may be held in accordance with the provisions of the_. <br />Brown Act. The purposes for Closed Session meetings inclucl~ <br />consideration of personnel matters, labor relations, matters of public <br />security, and disams/on of litigation. <br /> <br />Closed sessions shall be scheduled, to the extent possible and appropriate, <br />immediately preceding or following regulaz or special Council meetings. <br /> <br />The City Attorney shall advise the Council on the appropriateness of <br />closed session meetings. <br /> <br />Study Session ONorkshov) Meetings <br /> <br />The Council may meet informally in Study Sessions or Workshops called <br />by the Mayor or by a majority of Council members. Study Sessions shall <br />be held to receive briefings and background information and hold general <br />discussions on major issues before formal Council action is required. <br />Study Sessions are open to the public and are meetings for purposes of the <br />Brown Act. Other than providing direction to staff, Council may not take <br />any formal action at study session m~tin§s. <br /> <br />Joint meetings with other outside governing bodies such as the School <br />Board, or with City boards or commissions, may be called or authorized <br />by the Mayor or by a majority of the Council. <br /> <br />M~tings Ooen to the' Public <br /> <br />All meetings, except closed session meetiags as permitted by law and defined <br />herein, will be open to the public in acw. ordance with the Brown Act. <br /> <br /> <br />
