GEOLOGY AND SOILS <br /> <br />Environmental Setting <br /> <br />The subject property is characteristic of the west foothill arcas featuring moderate to stcep terrain. Thc <br />site lies within the Alquist-Priolo Fault Zone7, Seismic Zone 8 for the Calaveras fault, which traverses <br />the sitc in a north/south direction. The area is subject to landslides including site-specific landslides and <br />an "ancient" landslide affecting the area. <br /> <br />The approval of a project by a city or county must be in accordance with policies and criteria established <br />by the State Mining and Geology Board, Cities and counties shall require, prior to the approval of a pro- <br />ject, a geologic rcport defining and delineating any hazard of surface fault rupture, If the city or county <br />finds that no undue hazard of that kind exists, the geologic report on the hazard may be waived, with the <br />approval of the State Geologist. After a report has been approved or a waiver granted, subsequent geo- <br />logic reports shall not be required, provided that new geologic data warranting further investigations is <br />not recorded, <br /> <br />Standards of Significance <br /> <br />For purposes of this environmental document, an impact is considered significant if the proposcd project <br />would: <br /> <br />.
