<br />The roadway width and transition tapers are to accommodate vehicles merging for ingress and <br />egress from Vineyard Avenue to the side streets. Conventional tee intersections will be <br />constructed at Thiessen Street (East and West). Stop signs and legends will also be installed on <br />the side streets. <br /> <br />The plans will maintain the southerly edge of roadway pavement and increase the roadway <br />width to the north, retaining a 16-foot buffer between the north edge of pavement and the <br />Lonestar property fence line to accommodate a pedestrian trail and landscaping along the <br />fence line. Underground conduits will be installed at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and <br />Thiessen Street (West and East) to accommodate a future traffic signal(s) if necessary, to <br />accommodate future development in the area. <br /> <br />BIDS <br />Sealed bids for this project were opened on June 8, 2006. A total of two (2) bids were <br />received, which ranged from $544,660 to $665,678.75. The engineer's estimate for the <br />project was $595,000 (see attached Bid Summary). <br /> <br />The low bid of $544,660 was received from Granite Construction Company of Santa Clara, <br />California.
