Facts in Support of Findin~ <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton has adopted the following measures which will reduce potential public health and <br />safety impacts to a less-than-significant level: <br /> <br />Mitigation Measure 4.9-7: Exposure to Disease-Bearing Organisms. The developers of land <br /> containing detention basins, springs, ponds, etc., shall contact the Alameda County Mosquito <br /> Abatement District (ACMAD) for assistance in controlling and managing potential disease- <br /> beanng vectors and their breeding areas, to reduce the potential for transmission of public health <br /> diseases associated with these organisms. The ACMAD shall also be consulted for assistance in <br /> the control and management of other organisms (e.g., Valley black gnat) and their breeding areas <br /> that pose an environmental nuisance. The owners of such developments shall be responsible for <br /> implementing all applicable recommendations of the District. <br /> <br />SIGNIFICANT EFFECT <br /> <br />Impact 4.9-8: Worker Exposure to HazardOus Demolition Waste. Project site workers involved in <br /> demolition or renovation activities could be exposed to lead-based paint and asbestos-containing <br /> building materials, potentially causing adverse health effects. This would be considered a <br /> potentially significant impact. <br /> <br />Changes or alterations have been required in, or incorporated into, the project which mitigate or avoid <br />the significant effects on the environment. <br /> <br />Facts in Support of Finding <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton has adopted the following measures which will reduce potential public health and <br />safety impacts to a less-than-significant level: <br /> <br />Mitigation Measure 4.9-8: Worker Exposure to Hazardous Demolition Waste. Demolition of all <br /> structures shall be conducted in accordance with applicable requirements of the California <br /> Department of Industrial Relations (Cal OSHA) for lead, with appropriate follow-up measures <br /> taken if lead-based paint is found. <br /> <br /> Demolition of all structures shall be conducted in accordance with requirements of Cal OSHA <br /> and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) for asbestos, with appropriate <br /> follow-up measures if asbestos is found. <br /> <br />SIGNIFICANT EFFECT <br /> <br />Impact 4.9-9: Releases of Hazardous Materials During Construction. Transport, storage, or <br /> handling of fuels, lubricants, and other hazardous materials for heavy machinery operation and <br /> maintenance during site development activities could release hazardous materials within the <br /> Specific Plan area.
