Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority
Special Trausportation for Seniors and People with Disabilities

. Discussion on incentives for using paratransit services during non-peak hours.

During FY 2005-06, staff has completed one (1) travel training trip with LA VTA, with
additional training classes planned in the summer of 2006.

In January 2006, letters were sent to over 300 local PPS pick-up locations, educating
providers about the program. A quick reference check list for PPS riders was created and sent
to all providers as another educational tool. Closer coordination with the local providers will
improve paratransit service in the long run. (Please see attachment D)

Over 900 clients received a PPS letter informing them of the best times to call Dispatch to
book appointments, and also reminding clients when the program is least impacted (thus
more ride opportunities). This letter included the Quick Reference Check List for all types of
rides, with special directions on medical appointment rides.

The PPS Transit Fair was held on March 17, 2006, and included both local and regional
transit providers. At the fair, the public learned about transit opportunities, Measure B &
ACTIA Services, transit advisory board opportunities (P APCO, W AAC, and PPS Task
Force), and the opportunity to register for ADA services. The Pleasanton Police Department
provided helpful hints on personal safety when using public transit. Door prizes included
BART/Wheels PPS Ride tickets.

The PPS newletter "Around Town with PPS" was published, and is now an important
marketing tool for the service. This publication was sent to clients, and distributed to local
senior/community organizations.

As part of the plannng process, PPS is working with LA VTA to complete 11 Measure B Gap
funded study assessing the viability of taxi use for paratransit services in the Tri-Valley. This
study will provide up-to-date paratransit statistical information for the Tri- Valley, as well as
provide clear direction on the use of taxis for paratransit rides. This has been an on-going
interest point in the PPS plan. The study should be completed by July 1,2006.

2U, NEEDS IDENTIFICATION

. What needs or priorities have been identified that will be met by proposed service
changes?

. What needs or priorities will still not be met even after implementing proposed service
changes?
. How many potential riders do you estimate will use this service this coming fiscal year?

ReSDOnSe:

The City of Pleasant on Paratransit Task Force continues to evalaute the service delivery
system and clients' needs. With over 70% City General Fund support, it is critical that the
service meets residents' needs.

C:\Documenls and Settings\pamd\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\2006-07 annual application.doc
Page 10 of 19
