college or university accredited by the Western Association of <br /> Schools and Colleges and is in a recognized academic or <br /> professional field as determined by the employer's Department Head <br /> and the Personnel Director. Where a degree appears not to be in a <br /> recognized academic field the Department Head and Personnel <br /> Director shall provide the employee an opportunity to discuss the <br /> issue with them before they make their decision. Once made, <br /> however, the decision of the Department Head and Personnel Director <br /> shall be final. <br /> <br /> Incentive pay shall be a percentage of monthly base salary as <br /> specified below: <br /> <br /> Eligible Degree Incentive Pay <br /> <br /> AA 2.5% <br /> BA/BS 5.0% <br /> MS/MA 5.0% <br /> <br /> The maximum incentive pay an employee can receive is five percent. <br /> Should an employee be promoted to a position requiring the degree <br /> for which he/she is currently receiving incentive pay, said <br /> incentive pay shall cease. <br /> <br /> To receive incentive pay the employee must submit a copy of his/her <br /> college degree and college transcripts showing his/her overall <br /> grade point average. Incentive pay shall be effective at the <br /> beginning of the next pay period following approval of eligibility. <br /> <br /> All employees receiving educational incentive pay on April 30, 1992 <br /> shall continue to receive educational incentive pay. Any employee <br /> as of April 30, 1992 who obtained an eligible degree prior to being <br /> employed by the City of Pleasanton shall, upon reaching step E of <br /> his/her classification's salary range, receive the appropriate <br /> incentive pay percentage as cited above for said degree. <br /> <br />19.2 Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Regular full time employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of <br /> tuition expenses for college or university courses successfully <br /> completed with a grade of "C" or better, provided said courses have <br /> been approved in advance by the employee's Department Head and the <br /> Personnel Director and are taken from an educational institution <br /> accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. <br /> <br /> Tuition shall be reimbursed in an amount up to, but not to exceed <br /> the registration fees per college quarter levied by California <br /> State University Hayward for internal degrees in effect at the time <br /> the employee enrolled in the course(s) for which tuition <br /> reimbursement is requested. Eligible fees shall be limited <br /> <br /> University Fee Facility Fee <br /> Student Body Fee University Union Fee <br /> IRA Fee Health Services Fee <br /> <br /> - 23 - <br /> <br /> <br />
