Requests for tuition reimbursement shall be submitted at the <br /> completion of each quarter or semester and be accompanied by an <br /> official receipt verifying the tuition amount and the tuition <br /> payment, and an official transcript of grades. <br /> <br />19.3 ~ook Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Regular full time employees can be reimbursed for books required <br /> for college/university courses approvedbythe department head and <br /> personnel director and successfully completed with a grade of <br /> or better. Upon reimbursement, the books shall become the property <br /> of the city. To the extent feasible, the books will be made <br /> accessible to employees. The maximum reimbursement for books an <br /> employee may receive shall not exceed $300.00 per fiscal year. To <br /> be reimbursed, the employee must submit a receipt from the college <br /> or university for the book purchase and an official transcript of <br /> grades. <br /> <br />Section 20. pr0bationarv Period <br /> <br />20.1 ~enqth of probationary Period <br /> <br /> All original and promotional appointments shall be tentative and <br /> subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months actual <br /> service except that after serving a minimum of six months in a <br /> probationary status following promotion, an employee whose <br /> performance has been evaluated as exceptional based upon the <br /> performance criteria enumerated in Section 6.4 may be removed from <br /> probationary status. <br /> <br />20.2 Notification Requirements <br /> <br /> A probationary employee shall be notified by the Personnel Director <br /> forty-five (45) days prior to the expiration date of his/her <br /> probationary period. <br /> <br /> Within twenty-one (21) days prior to the expiration date of the <br /> probationary period, the Department Head shall file with the <br /> Personnel Director a statement as to whether or not the <br /> probationary employee shall be retained in the position. <br /> <br /> An employee who is not rejected prior to the completion of the <br /> prescribed probationary period shall be deemed to have passed the <br /> prescribed probation period automatically subject to the provisions <br /> of Section 20.3 <br /> <br />20.3 Extension of Probationary Period <br /> <br /> If a probationary employee is off work due to a leave of absence, <br /> sick leave or disability leave or any combination thereof for a <br /> period exceeding thirty (30) consecutive calendar days, said <br /> <br /> <br />
