exceed three (3) months beyond the exhaustion of any accrued sick <br /> and vacation leave. With a recommendation by the Department Head <br /> to and approval by the Personnel Director, the City Manager may <br /> extend the leave for up to an additional thirty (30) days. <br /> <br /> The term medical disability includes all temporary medical <br /> disabilities including pregnancy, childbirthand associated medical <br /> conditions. Total approved paid and unpaid time away from work <br /> because of medical disability prior to and after the birth of a <br /> child, shall not exceed one hundred twenty (120) days. <br /> <br /> Such request for medical leave will be considered only upon <br /> provision of a physician's statement attesting to said disability. <br /> <br /> During extended medical leave, an employee shall not accrue <br /> vacation or sick leave benefits or be eligible for holidays, nor <br /> shall such time be considered as service time. Any employee <br /> returning from medical leave shall be required to provide a <br /> physician's release to return to duty. <br /> <br />13.4 ~urv Leave <br /> <br /> Every employee of the City who is called or required to serve as a <br /> juror shall be entitled to leave from his/her duties with the City <br /> during the period of such service or while necessarily being <br /> present in court as a result of such call. The employee shall be <br /> paid the difference between his/her full salary and any payment <br /> received by him/her, except travel pay, for such duty. <br /> <br />13.5 Leaves Resultinq from Subpoena <br /> <br /> Leave of absence with pay shall be granted to a person while going <br /> to and from court and answering a subpoena as a witness. The <br /> employee shall be paid the difference between his/her full salary <br /> and any payment received by him/her, except travel pay, for such <br /> duty. <br /> <br />13.6 Military Leave <br /> <br /> Military leave shall be granted in accordance with the provisions <br /> of the law. All employees entitled to military leave shall give <br /> the Appointing Authority an opportunity within the limits of <br /> military regulations to determine when such leave shall be taken. <br /> <br />13.7 Failure to Return from Leave <br /> <br /> Failure on the part of the employee on leave to report to duty <br /> promptly upon its expiration or within a reasonable time after its <br /> expiration shall be cause for discipline. <br /> <br /> - 17 - <br /> <br /> <br />
