minimum of one (1) full shift. Three (3) employees may be <br /> scheduled for vacation concurrently. Department seniority <br /> shall be honored on each succeeding selection after all <br /> members of the shift have made a vacation selection. Once <br /> completed, the annual schedule will be submitted to the <br /> Fire Chief for his /her review to assure that not more than <br /> three employees are scheduled to be on vacation on any <br /> given day, and that the schedule does not conflict with <br /> scheduled advanced training. However, the prohibition <br /> against using vacation on days when advanced training is <br /> scheduled may be waived by the Fire Chief or his /her <br /> designee provided the training can be made up by the <br /> employee at no cost to the City, and the rescheduling is <br /> agreeable to the Fire Chief or his /her designee. <br /> Vacation requests other than those scheduled through the <br /> above annual vacation schedule must be submitted to the <br /> Fire Chief or his /her designee at least forty -eight (48) <br /> hours in advance of the day requested. Vacation time off <br /> requests shall be made on Pleasanton Fire Department <br /> request forms, and be submitted to the Fire Chief for <br /> his /her review to assure that not more than three <br /> employees are scheduled to be off on vacation on any given <br /> day, and that it does not conflict with scheduled advanced <br /> training. However, the prohibition against using vacation <br /> on days when advanced training is scheduled may be waived <br /> by the Fire Chief or his /her designee provided the <br /> training can be made up by the employee at no cost to the <br /> City, and the rescheduling is agreeable to the Fire Chief <br /> or his /her designee. The Chief or his /her designee may <br /> waive the forty eight (48) hour requirement. <br /> Any vacation schedule may be canceled by the Fire Chief in <br /> the event of emergencies. <br /> 13.5 Vacation Pay at Termination <br /> Any employee with one (1) or more years service with the <br /> City shall be paid for all accrued vacation leave earned <br /> prior to the effective date of termination. Such <br /> compensation for earned vacation shall be paid to the <br /> employee: in one lump sum in a final check. <br /> Section 14. Sick Leave <br /> 14.1 Sick Leave Accrual <br /> During his /her one year probationary period each new full - <br /> time employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of eleven <br /> and two- tenths (11.2) hours for each month of service. <br /> - 15 - <br />
