13.2 Vacation Allowance <br /> Commencing with his /her next anniversary date <br /> following April 1, 1981, each eligible employee on a <br /> fifty -six (56) hour work week shall accrue vacation <br /> with pay in accordance with the following schedule: <br /> Years of Continuous Service Monthly Accrual Rate <br /> First through fourth year 12 hours <br /> Fifth through eleventh year 16 hours <br /> Twelfth through fourteenth year 20 hours <br /> Fifteenth through sixteenth year 22 hours <br /> Seventeenth year and above 24 hours <br /> Accrued vacation shall be credited to the employee's <br /> account biweekly. <br /> Any employee except a probationary employee, may be <br /> allowed to incur a fifty -six (56) hour deficit <br /> beyond the vacation leave credited to his /her <br /> account on his /her anniversary date. A probationary <br /> employee may incur a fifty -six (56) hour deficit in <br /> vacation leave after six (6) months full -time <br /> satisfactory service. <br /> Except as provided below, vacations must be used in <br /> increments of either twenty -four (24) or twelve (12) <br /> hours. When used in twelve hour increments, <br /> vacations must be taken from either 8:00 a.m. to <br /> 8:00 p.m., or 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The Fire Chief <br /> may, however, approve vacation requests in less than <br /> twelve hour increments to accommodate employee <br /> enrollment in college or university courses. The <br /> courses or classes attended must, however, be <br /> appropriate to employee development. The decision <br /> of the Fire Chief shall be final. <br /> 13.3 Vacation Accumulation <br /> Any eligible employee may defer up to a maximum of one and <br /> one -half (1 -1/2) times his /her annual vacation entitlement <br /> to the year succeeding his /her anniversary date. <br /> 13.4 Vacation Scheduling <br /> Prior to March 31st each employee in order of department <br /> seniority shall be granted an opportunity to sign -up for <br /> vacation time for the remainder of the year. Vacation <br /> time off requested may be split more than once annually <br /> provided, however, that vacation time is taken in a <br /> - 14 - <br />
