In the case where the eligible employee is deceased, the amount the City is obligated to pay shall be reduced by 'f (one half). If the spouse remarries, the obligation by the City shall terminate. The City reserves the right to meet and confer with the Union for the purposes of coordinating retired employees hospital and medical care in the event Federal or State legislation is implemented that effects retiree's medical insurance. The City will contact the health care providers and seek the opportunity to place retirees under the active plans. Effective on the first day following City Council approval of this agreement, the City shall contribute an amount not to exceed sixty -five dollars and eighty -five ($65.85) per month per employee to provide dental care benefits under the City's present dental plan for the individual employee and eligible dependents. Effective January 1, 1996, said maximum monthly contribution will be increased to an amount not to exceed seventy -two ($72.00) dollars per month. Effective January 1, 1997, said maximum monthly contribution shall be increased to an amount not to exceed eighty -one ($81.00) dollars per month. In addition, following City Council adoption of this Memorandum of Understanding, the City will increase the maximum orthodontia coverage to $1,500. 30
