15.2 Personal Leave <br />Fire Inspectors and Hazardous Materials Coordinators will receive three (3) personal leave days <br />per year with pay as follows: <br />Personal leave for eligible employees shall be credited and taken in accordance with the <br />regulations set forth in this section. Each payroll year eligible employees will be credited with <br />personal leave at the rate of 24 (twenty -four) hours for each full -time eight (8) hour per day <br />employee per year. <br />Employees not in a pay status at the beginning of the payroll year will not be credited with <br />personal leave until their return to work. In such cases personal leave will be prorated for the year <br />once the employee returns to work. <br />Personal leave is not cumulative and must be taken in the same year it is credited. <br />15.3 Jury Leave <br />Each regular or probationary employee of the Department who is required to serve as a trial juror <br />is entitled to be absent from his /her duties with the Department during the "period" of such <br />service or while necessarily being in court as the result of such a call. When the employee's <br />services are "not required" or upon "dismissal" from court, the employee shall return directly <br />to work to complete the balance of the work day or shift. The employee is allowed his or her <br />regular salary provided the employee compensates the Department for any fees received for <br />service other than travel pay. If the employee does not compensate the Department for such fees, <br />the salary shall be lowered by the amount of such fees. <br />For the purposes of this section; <br />"Period" shall mean drat period of time from the moment the employee is chosen as a juror until <br />he /she is dismissed by the judge. <br />Services that are "not required" shall mean those portions of time that an employee who is a <br />prospective juror, has not yet been chosen as a juror and has been released for the day but is <br />required to return at a later date for further consideration as a prospective juror. <br />"Dismissal" from court is when the judge dismisses the employee as a juror or prospective juror. <br />15.4 Leaves Resulting from Subpoena <br />Leaves of absence with pay shall be granted to a person while going to and from court and <br />answering a subpoena as a witness on behalf of Fire Department. The employee shall be paid the <br />difference between his /her full salary and any payment received by him /her, except travel pay, <br />for such duty. <br />13 <br />
