The Suggestion Award Program was submitted to management staff for review and then to the
three employee groups.

DESCRIPTION OF SUGGESTION AWARD PROGRAM

The Suggestion Award will be given to an employee who voluntarily submits in writing a
proposal that identifies a way and an acceptable solution in which a City activity can be done
quicker, better, easier, safer or at less cost. All nonmanagement regular full-time and regular
part-time employees are eligible to participate. Discussions regarding eligibility, awards and
rules interpretation shall be made by the City Manager or designee after receiving the
recommendation of the Suggestion Award Committee.

Awards will be given in three classifications: tangible savings, intangible savings and safety.
Monetary awards may be from $50.00 to $500.00, based on the following formula:

For each $500 of annual dollar savings to the City budget to the nearest multiple, $50.00
will be awarded up to a maximum of $500.00. Suggestions on which dollar savings may
not be calculated may receive from $25.00 to $100.00.

Recipients of awards will be recognized at the Annual Employee Service Awards Luncheon.
RECOGNITION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION

The Recognition Committee recommends the City Council approve Phase IV of the Employee
Recognition Program.

FISCAL IMPACT

The cost of the program would be proportional to the savings to the City as outlined in the
program guidelines.

Respectfully submitted,

Delcea Wills Deborah Acosta
Recognition Committee Chairperson City Manager

Attachment: Suggestion Award Program

SR 96:195 Page 2
