Goals & Objectives Pleasanton Cultural Plan ~r Working with organizations such as Across The River literary group. enhance and expand programs in the literary arts including: =:, Enhanced promotion of literary evenings at the Pleasanton Library ~ Further promotion of teen writing contest in conjunction with PUSD =~ Further promotion of"Open Mike" evenings at local establishments =:, Assistance with developing "Point of Entry" events (incorporating music, improvisational theater, etc.) ~ Linkage with the City of Pleasanton's public art program (e.g.. incorporating poetry in public art projects, etc.) ~ Exploring opportunities for exhibition of literary/book arts in public assembly spaces (e.g., Library, Farmer's Markets, etc.) · Enhance the City of Pleasanton's Public Art Program through: ::::, Identification of public art sites throughout the City (including parks, public works projects, etc.) =:, Raise community awareness and understanding of the City's public an resources (e.g., walking tour, printed materials. lectures. etc.) ~ Linkage with public transit agencies (e.g., development of"poetry in motion" and related programs) · Explore opportunities to develop Hacienda Business Park lunch time and after-work programming · Encourage the continued use of local talent and diversified programs at the Pleasanton Downtown Assoeiation's Friday Night Concert Series. · Provide more opportunities for High School Bands and other musical ensembles to perform throughout the community and region. · Work with Pleasanton's Sister Cities committees to develop new arts and cultural programs and expand participation in cultural exchange efforts. · Encourage public lectures that relate to the arts. /IMS Planning &Research 16 May 1998
