Mr_ Kudlo noted that they did have monument signs approved by the City for direction on the <br />loop road. I-Ie added that the transparency of the garage was one of their primary security <br />features and that too iriany layers between the street and the activity in the garage was a problem <br />for their risk management staff. They could provide a low landscaped area between the walkway <br />and the cars, but any vertical screen acting as a visual barrier would be a security problem. <br />Chairperson Maas suggcstcd that the applicant add the landscaping to the elevation- <br />Peter Miller, 4653 Cochise Court, expressed concern about the reduced parking space size and <br />noted that it would be difficult for parents to remove young children from car seats- I Ic <br />suggcstcd. that there be nine feet between the white lines, instead of center to center, so there was <br />truly nine feet of parking. lle believed the 1 8-foot length of the parking space would be <br />sufficient- <br />Terry Miller, Walls and Associates, tralt3c engineer, replied to Mr- Miller's concerns and noted <br />that 95 percent of the drivers are able to move into and out of the 9-foot by 18-foot space in one <br />maneuver- He noted that a Ford Expedition is six feet by seven inches wide, and that the idea of <br />a hairpin ado uble stripes is to center the cars within the space. He noted that Mr_ Miller's <br />suggestion of putting nine feet between the white lines would yield an 1 1 -foot space, including <br />the one-foot-wide hairpins. <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Pox's inquiry whether some spaces on each floor <br />__ could. be compact spaces, Mr- Miller replied that from a shopping center standpoint, they <br />discouraged compact spaces.
