Acting Chair Arkin would also like to see awhole-house fan installed in the units. He was also <br />very concerned about the use of garages for storage and suggested that alternative storage space <br />be designed into the house, such as under the staircase- <br />Cotrtmissioner Blank suggested that a finished attic be included. <br />Acting Chair Arkin noted that he could support this project. <br />Mr_ McMorrow noted that when they started working with the tot lot, they t3rst thought it should <br />be in the triiddle; however, the Fire Department required a specific turning radius, which would <br />not allow a tot lot in that central area- The tot lot should be at least 16 feat wid~- <br />Commissioner Roberts expressed concern about parking on the streets and not in the garages. <br />Mr_ McMorrow noted that if the parking was designed correctly in the first place, it would not <br />become an issuc_ <br />Ms_ Decker noted that considerable time had bean spent with respect to the tot lot's location and <br />that it could be revisited to address the C=ommission's concerns- <br />No action was taken. <br />c_ PDR-421, Keon Youu~ Lee <br />Application for design review approval to develop a 15,488-square-Foot, two-building <br />commercial development on a 1.44-acre site located at 3283 Bernal Avenue- 'Coning for <br />the property is PUD-C Planned Unit Development Commercials District- <br />This item was continued to the November 16, 2005 trteeting. <br />7_ MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />PR7-30, Ordinance on the Kcepin~ of Chickens <br />Ms_ Decker noted that she emailed a memo to the Commissioners regarding Code <br />Amendment PRZ-30, which included comments on additional information and conditions <br />of approval that would be included in the Code Amendment. <br />Commissioner Fox noted that the memo covered only Low Density Residential rather <br />than Medium Density Residential as well and inquired what the two houses at the <br />Planning Commission's prior hearings were- Ms. Decker replied they were <br />Single-Family Residential units- The language would be structured so that it would be <br />applicable to Single-Family Residential units for both straight zoning and PUDs; staff <br />would not aiiticipatc modi$cations to PUDs to have chickens. <br />llonle Depot <br />Commissioner Fox noted that she had received quite a few emails regarding the article in <br />the newspapers on Home Depot and inquired whether Home Depot had contacted the <br />Ylat~tiing Department at all_ <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES October 26, 2005 Page 12 of 14 <br />
