Coii~iriissioncr Blank suggested that the tot lot be placed at the hook on the other side of the focal
point to avoid conflict with traft3c. He did not believe it should be placed at the back of the lot,
which would. be a long trip for the chi Idren who live at the front of the site-
With respect to questions on page 5 of the staff report, Commissioner Fox believed the color and
material schemes were appropriate but had an issue with the louvers on the window awnings-
She believed the louvered awnings that use a paint color from another part of the building should.
instead use the color frotri the composite roof.
Coxrimissioner Arkin noted that he was pleased with the architecture of the design.
C rni~n~issioner Roberts concurred.
With respect to the questions on page 6 of the staff report regarding landscaping, fencing, and the
bioswale, Coxrtxrtissioner Roberts noted that she always supported more landscaping. She
believed there was sufficient landscaping and did not believe that old orchard trees were worth
saving, particularly if they hadn't been cared for- She believed that if the City supported a
bioswale, she would go along with it_ Regarding the relocation of removed trees, she would like
to see an arborist's report about the heritage trees and what their value is. She did not understand
why soiree of the heritage trees by the arroyo ware being removed, unless it was for the
ha~nmcrhead, and would like to hear more about th at_ She would make a decision about the
Urban Forestry Fund when she had more information
Commissioner Blank agreed with Commissioner Roberts' comments but did not want the
heritage tree removed in exchange for payment; he preferred that it be placed elsewhere on the
property wherever feasiblc_
Commissioner Fox did not see many trees she would like to save and believed that many of them
did not appear to be in good health.
Ms_ Decker advised that the arbori st's report contained appraised. values.
With respect to signage, Coirmiissioner Fox noted that many of the higher density apartments
and townhouses in Dublin had a sign with a. fountain feature. She would like that possibility to
be explored for this site.
With respect to the number of vehicular trips and mitigation, Conmiissioner Blanh would like to
see the traffic report.
Commissioner Pearce believed it would be useful to consider solar-ready photovoltaic units but
that full solar would not be necessary.
Gone n~issioner Blank believed that solar-ready should be req uircd but not the full installation-
Commissioner Roberts concurred with his assessment and believed that would excessively
in-ipact the price-
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES October 26, 2005 Page 11 of 14
