Goal 7 <br />Commissioner Pearce stated that all natural archive database man-made catastrophic <br />emergencies could be addressed by Homeland Security~ <br />Acting Chairperson Arkin noted that he does not recall seeing any City publication or <br />evacuation plan other than for earthquakes. <br />POLICE SERVICES <br />Policy 20 <br />Acting Chairperson Arkin stated that the General Plan's public safety goal should. be to <br />constantly improve, and the goal for response time should be a "stretch goal" <br />In response to Commissioner Blar~k's inquiry regarding the four-minute response time <br />and what the current average response time was, Ms. Stern replied that she would ask the <br />Police Department- <br />Policy 23 <br />Commissioner Roberts stated that she liked this policy and pro grams~ <br />Acting C'-hairperson Arkin stated that the City should provide more funds to set goals for <br />public safety issues which would improve the community. <br />Ms. Stern noted that it would take a while to get responses and put together the <br />recommendations proposed by the Commission and that staff will bring the Element back <br />to the Commission once they are done. <br />Acting Chairperson Arkin commended staff for its work on the Public Safety Element <br />and expressed his appreciation to the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall for their attendance at <br />the meeting as well as the Chief s educational explanations regarding response time- <br />The Planning Commission recessed for a break at 9:50 p_m_ <br />Acting Chairperson Arkin reconvened the meeting at 10:00 p.rn. <br />Acting Chairperson Arkin informed the Commission and all. present that the applicant for <br />Item 6_£.
