2_ APPKO VAL OF MINUTES
a. June 11, 2003.
Coninzissioner Maas advised. that page 2, paragraph 13, should be changed to read,
"Commissioner Maas advised that the extra time would allow the parties involved in Item
6.e. to come to an agreement, speczfzcalZy regarding the well rights. "
The minutes were approved as amended.
3_ MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO
ADDRESS THE PLANNING COMMISSION ON ANY ITEM WHICH IS
NOT ALREADY ON THE AGENDA_
Chairperson Arkin noted that several speaker cards had been received with respect to
Item 6_b_, and that any comments regarding California Splash that did not pertain to the
General Plan Amendment and the rezoning may be addressed by public comment under
this portion of the agenda_
Mr. Steve Wehrlie, 6180 Stoneridge Mall, Masses, noted that he intended to speak with
Marion Pavan regarding this issue. He noted that during the teen dances at Masses, he
had experienced problems with students who did not bring a student ID, but were
dropped off by their parents_ He noted that some youths are dropped off down the block,
and that when they were not able to enter the club, that presented a problem for the teens
and their parents. He noted that some kids brought their yearbooks as identification,
which he cannot continue to accept as identitcation. He noted that a valid driver license
would be acceptable, but the younger teens would not have a license.
Ms. Nerland advised that because this item was not agendized, the Commission could not
take formal action on it. She suggested that the Commission direct staff to work with Mr.
Wehrlie to smooth out the mechanics of this process. She suggested that adding signs in
the parking lot, clarifying the identification requirements, would be helpful.
Mr. James Palmer, 3880 Stratford Court, requested the results of the sound tests at
California Splash. He noted that from looking at the renderings, California Splash would
be an improvement over the quarry.
Mr. Frank Doljack, 750 Montevino Drive, expressed concern about a substantial amount
of traffic generated during California Splash's operating hours. He noted that if only
Pleasanton residents visited California Splash, it would not be economical, and added that
outside traffic would intensify congestion to city streets. He expressed concern about
noise from loudspeakers, and believed that the residents of the mobile home parks and
Shadow Cliffs would be most affected. He did not believe; the plywood or Plexiglas
sound barriers would be effective, and that concrete may be necessary. He did not feel
that this would be a good project.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES June 25, 2003 Page 5
