Mr_ Bachofner noted that they intended to tone the intensity of the red band down <br />significantly_ <br />Mr. Iserson summarized the Comiriission's requests= <br />1 _ hztegrate the tower element more smoothly into the building. <br />2. Use the tower roof design concepts from Mr_ Cannon's Exhibit A and Mr_ <br />Bachofner's Option 3. <br />3. The color of the red horizontal band would be subdued in intensity, <br />consider eliminating the band. <br />4. Vines would be used to break up the taassing of the wall. The option of <br />growing the vines from the roof down would be explored. <br />Chairperson Arkin noted that he did not want the applicant to incur excessive expense in <br />providing renderings. Mr. Bachofner noted that when the building is redesigned, the <br />rendering would reflect its appearance. Staff was very concerned that the rendering be <br />submitted before the meeting so that it correlated to the new design. <br />A discussion about providing renderings ensued. <br />Commissioner Maas noted that she was comfortable with renderings fiom Stanley and <br />Wyoming. Mr. Bachofner noted that any rendering that deviated from a 90 degree angle <br />would need to be fully modeled. <br />Commissioner Maas noted that homes had been approved in a shorter period of time than <br />this application_ <br />Commissioner Sullivan stated that he felt pressured by the timetable of this application, <br />and would like the process to be respected_ He was concerned that the applicant had <br />objected to the Commission's requests. <br />Mr. Bachofner noted that he did not object to the Commission's questions, and would <br />like clarification of what was expected of him and the applicant. <br />Commissioner Sedlak did not agree that the applicant had argued with the Commission, <br />and noted that renderings were extremely time-consuming and very expensive. He <br />believed that tihe applicant waisted clarity with respect to what work product the <br />C:omiriission needed. <br />Commissioner Sullivan noted that the Commission's decisions should not be driven by <br />the economics of the applicant, and that the best interest of the community should prevail. <br />Commissioner Sedlak believed that the Commission would like to strive for a project in <br />the community's best interest_ <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES May 28, 2003 Page 25 <br />
