However, the City may have some leverage if the <br />project uses City streets. <br />Commissioner Roberts noted that given the timeframe, it may be more expeditious to <br />bring this item before City Council_ <br />Ms. Fox believed that this action set a bad precedent with respect to the other lake <br />conversions_ <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Maas, Mr. Jost noted that the plan he saw was <br />not the actual plan for the excavation, and that there was no detail showing where the top <br />of the bank would be with respect to Martin Avenue_ <br />In response to an inquiry by Chairperson Arkin whether Zone 7 was subject to an <br />environmental review or a negative declaration, Mr_ Iserson believed that Mr_ SwiR and <br />the Public Works Director were aware of this situation_ He would determine which staff <br />members were involved with this project, and would inform the Commission of the <br />approvals and other details_ <br />Chairperson Arkin proposed moving Item 7 Matters Initiated to the begir~ning of the <br />agenda in order to continue the discussion. <br />Commissioner Sullivan noted that the short timeframe available regarding this project <br />may not allow action on the Coix~ixiission level, and noted that it may be useful for similar <br />projects in the future. He suggested that Ms_ Fox contact the Mayor directly regarding <br />this matter. <br />4. REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Chair Arkin requested that Item 7 be moved up on the agenda in order for the <br />Commission to discuss the issue presented by Acme Fox. <br />Mr_ Iserson advised that Item 6.b. would be continued to the Planning Commission <br />meeting of May 28, 2003. <br />7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Roberts believed that the City Council should be made aware of the item <br />discussed by Anne Fox in Item 3. She noted that she would attend a meeting on May 16, <br />2003, regarding the asphalt batch plan near her home_ She noted that Councilmember <br />Brozosky had done a great deal of work on that item. <br />Chairperson Arkin requested a staff report as soon as possible with respect to the Lake I <br />issue. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES May 14, 2003 Page 3 <br />
