Mr_ Iserson recommended retaining the word "approved" in the condition to clarify that
unapproved performances were not covered.
Carol Hovey, President, Pleasanton Playhouse, spoke in support of this item, and agreed.
with everything stated in the packet. She noted that the description of the process was
accurate, and confirmed that there would be no noisy operations during the performances-
She noted that page 5 stated that approved performances occurred on Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday. She wished to clarify that the time for Sunday performances included pre-
performance time during which the audience would be seated, and post-performance time
when they leR the theater. She noted that the Friday and Saturday performance times did
not include the extra time needed, and that they were in the theater from 6.30 to 1 1 :00
p.m. She noted that it was not necessary to restrict the applicant's work during
rehearsals. She noted that if they wished to add performances, that they would go through
the Planning Department process. She advised that they may wish to add children's
matinees on Saturdays- She appreciates the effort made, both on the Playhouse's behalf,
and that of the applicant.
In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Sedlak, Ms_ Hovey did not believe that the
applicant's business activities would affect the mid-week children's matinee
performances. She noted that they were primarily performances for the children's
parents, and she did not anticipate that the applicant's work would be a factor.
Commissioner Kameny thanked the applicant and the Ms. Hovey for resolving their
issues prior to the meeting, and noted that it was refreshing to see that happen.
THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.
Commissioner Kameny moved to approve PCUP-77, per the conditions of the staff
report, including deletion of the following words in Condition 4: ...the hours of ' so
that it would read: _ _ _ during approved theatrical performances."
Commissioner Maas seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Arkin, Maas, Kameny, Roberts, and Sedlak
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: None
ABSENT: Commissioner Sullivan
Resolution No_ PC-2003-I 1 was entered and adopted as motioned.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 9, 2003 Page 4
