overall condition that if there were overall noise issues in the future, planning staff would <br />work with affected tenants, the applicant, and the building manager to achieve a <br />compromise. <br />Staff believed that the permit findings could be made and recommended approval subject <br />to the conditions of the stall report <br />Commissioner Roberts noted that the Pleasanton Playhouse would not be moving to the <br />new Black Box Theater downtown because the Fire Station had not moved out yet. She <br />noted that they might need more hours for more performances, and inquired who would <br />take priority in that event Mr_ Iserson noted that if the Pleasanton Playhouse desired to <br />expand their hours, they would need to modify their use permit. The applicant would not <br />automatically be forced to restrict their hours because it was geared to the present <br />Playhouse hours- <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Sedlak whether the proximity of the shearer <br />to the common wall would be a problem, Mr_ Zserson noted that if the applicant did not <br />use the equipment during the performances, it would not be an issue- <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED- <br />Paul Zampierin, applicant, 3588 Crespi Court, clarified Item 4 of Exhibit B, and noted <br />that he would not operate during actual performances, as opposed to hours of approved <br />performances. He noted that performances did not occur every week during approved <br />hours. <br />C:om3riissioner Maas noted that the applicant seemed to have a good relationship with the <br />Playhouse, and that they did not object to his operation. <br />Mr. Zampierin advised that the location of the shearer would have no effect on the <br />Playhouse. He noted that he worked at the shop part-time, often arriving at 8=00 p.m_ <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Sedlak, Mr_ Zampierin noted that lze built a <br />wooden box around the compressor to suppress the noise. He also installed a foam baffle <br />to mitigate the noise in anticipation o£ this hearing. He noted that the rear of the table has <br />a tray with a rubber pad to catch the excess material- He noted that the loudest noise <br />would occur when the compressor charges up and cycles for approximately 1 5 seconds- <br />Commissioner Roberts suggested deleting the words "the hours of in Condition 4. <br />Mr. Zampierin suggested the wording, ".. _ during approved theatrical performances o£ the <br />Pleasanton Playhouse." <br />Commissioner Roberts suggested the wording, "...during scheduled theatrical <br />performances-" <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 9, 2003 Page 3 <br />
