Econonllc Restructuring: The Economic Restructuring Committee includes four board members and approximately 12 volunteers and property O"wners. The committee vvorks to improve the economic vitality of dovvntovvn through business recruitment and retention. The committee continues to assist the existing businesses and property ovvners in the district through information, netvvorking and programs. Within the committee are the Parking Sub-Committee and Side Street Sign Taskforce. Design: The Design Committee includes tvvo board n"lembers and approximately six volunteers. This committee is involved in recommending and commenting on planning and design issues to the City. They are also involved-in coordinating vvith the City to implement projects in the Dovvntovvn Specific Plan. A necessary component to any dovvntovvn is public restrooms. This year, the Design Committee vvorked vvith city staff on a suitable location and design of the soon to be, constructed restrooms, in Delucchi Park. The Design Committee continues to promote interest in the historic character of dovvntovvn by offering an annual Pleasanton Historic Dovvntovvn Walking Tour led by committee volunteer, Charles Huff. Quarterly, the committee selects one dovvntovvn property ovvner or business to receive the NEAT (Neighborhood Environment Attractiveness Team) Avvard vvho is then recognized in The Pleasanton Weekly. The committee is currently vvorking on the design and location of an informational kiosk to be built by the PDA. SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS The PDA recorded another successful year, vvith a number of significant accomplishments: The PDA organized and orchestrated a total of 31 events: (5) First Wednesday Street Parties; (2) Antiques Faires; (14) Concerts in the Park; (1) Heritage Days; (I) Wine Stroll; (1) Truffles, Tidbits and Tastings; (2) Inside/Out Sales; (1) Holiday Evening; (1) Annual Dinner; (1) Breakfast vv/Board; and (2) membership mixers. Initiated a Murals Sub-Committee. Increased marketing of the PDA. o Produced 20,000 Experience DOl-Vntol-Vn Pleasanton. The brochure incorporates 2 maps, the calendar of events and a membership directory. o Produced Dining in Historical DOl-Vntol-Vn Pleasanton guide. o Produced Calendar of Events Schedules. o Sponsored an $8000 holiday advertising campaign vvhich included radio and a live remote. o Coordinated Pleasanton Bone Hornetol-Vn, a day of community marketing vvith 107.7 radio station vvhich also raised over $1000 for Valley Humane Society. Reorganized staff to increase our marketing exposure through one-on-one interactions vvith hotels, vvineries fairgrounds, business parks and numerous companies throughout the Tri-Valley. Produced DOl-Vntol-Vn Happenings a quarterly membership nevvsletter. Produced Welcome to the Pleasanton DOl-Vntol-Vn Association brochure. Created opportunities for business netvvorking vvith 2 membership mixers in April and August; partnering vvith the Chamber of Commerce for the August mixer. Co-sponsored a Regional Mixer January in partnership vvith the Tri-Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Pleasanton and Livermore Chambers of Commerce, and the Tri-Valley Business Council. Provided opportunities for membership feedback vvith a membership survey and an annual Brealfast -with the Board meeting held July 12th at the Pleasanton Hotel. The Economic Vitality Committee hosted a Property Ovvners breakfast to discuss cooperative opportunities for parking and utilization of the PDA for dissemination of information on available rental space. The Parking sub-committee charged vvith finding vvays to improve parking is currently vvorking vvith property ovvners of the 400 block, laying the groundvvork for the creation of an assessment district. The Parking Committee vvorked vvith city staff to successfully establish fair and consistent, in lieu of parking fees. 2
