<br /> Guidelines: <br /> 1.1 Riparian vegetation along the Arroyo de la Laguna should be protected to the extent <br /> consistent with regional flood control objectives. <br /> 1.2 The Knoll in the Eastern Area, along with existing valley oak trees associated with the <br /> Knoll, should be retained. <br /> Visual Resources Policy 2: Maintenance of View Sheds. Maintain key view sheds into and <br /> across the site. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> 2.1 Landscape treatment along the south side of Bernal Avenue should be designed such that <br /> views across the site to the Southeastern Hills and to Pleasanton Ridge are maintained. <br /> 2.2 The landscaping and berm along the western edge ofI-680 should allow views of <br /> Pleasanton Ridge across the berm. <br /> - Key viewpoints that are to remain largely unobstructed should include southbound <br /> views of Pleasant on Ridge from the Bernal Avenue overpass south to the UPRR bridge <br /> structure. <br /> - Berm construction should be enhanced to appear to be a natural landform. <br /> - Landscaping on berms should not be designed or maintained to grow so high or so <br /> dense as to block views of the Ridge. <br /> 2.3 Projects should be designed to provide attractive views over and into the site for travelers <br /> on 1-680 at the northern and southern ends of the Planning Area where the Freeway is <br /> elevated. <br /> 2.4 The view of outdoor lighting fixtures from lighted sports fields, parking lots and buildings <br /> should be screened, and lighting should be directed downward. <br /> Administrative Draft, Bernal Property Phase II Specific Plan, October 25, 2005 Page 52 <br />
