Local water flow alarms shall be provided on all sprinkler system. Water flow alarms and <br />valve tamper shall be cormected to an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed Cetural Station <br />Service under the following conditions: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />All buildings with eight (8) or more units or, <br />When there are four (4) or more buildings per complex or, <br />When there are more than sixty-four (64) units per complex. <br /> <br />CHAPTER 4-System Design - amended <br /> <br />Section 4-1.2.1. Number of Design Sprinklers and Water Demand is amended to read: <br /> <br />The number of design sprinklers shall be as follows: <br /> <br />(a) Standard for One (1) to Four (4) Dwelling Units. <br /> <br />The number of design sprinklers shall include all sprinklers within a compartment to a <br />maximum of four (4) sprinklers. When the number of design sprinklers is less than four (4) <br />for a compartment, the design shall include a five (5) gallon per minute domestic use <br />simultaneous with sprinkler flow per unit. This domestic use shall be calculated at the base of <br />riser. <br /> <br />Pilot sprinklers shall be provided in the attic and between floors where floor/ceiling assemblies <br />consist of open web wood joists or tresses. Pilot sprinklers shall be 212 degree F, 7/16 inch <br />orifice. Pilot sprinklers shall be located at maximum 30 feet centers (Maximum 15 feet from <br />outside walls) and shall be located at all heat and fire sources including furnaces, hot water <br />heaters, above kitchen ranges, etc. Fire sprinklers in garages shall be 200 degree F, quick <br />response, 7/16 inch.orifice (K=4,0.to 4.5) with a maximum spacing of.l.30 to 150,~quare feet <br />per sprinkler. <br /> <br />Co) Standard for Mid-Sized Multi-Family Residential Sprinkler Systems for Five (5) to <br />Fifteen (15) Dwelling Units in Residential Structures Not Exceeding twelve thousand square <br />feet (12,000 square feet) shall be as follows: <br /> <br />The number of design sprinklers shall be the hydraulically most remote six (6) sprinklers <br />above or below the ceiling. When a common fire sprinkler and domestic water supply is <br />provided, the fire sprinkler calculation shall include the simultaneous domestic flow of five (5) <br />gallons per minute per dwelling unit. This domestic flow shall be calculated at the base of <br />the riser. <br /> <br />Exception: This standard does not include hotels, motels, or day care centers with more than <br />twelve (12) occupants. <br /> <br /> <br />
