Section 1003.3.1 is mended to the Uniform Fire Code to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1003.3.1 Where required. All valves controlling the water supply for automatic <br />sprinkler systems and water-flow switches on all sprinkler systems shall be electrically <br />monitored as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. All fire protection and fire alarm systems shall be supervised to a Underwriters <br /> Laboratory (UL) Central Station Service. Valve monitoring, water-flow alarm(s), FM <br /> 200 system(s), and trouble signal(s) etc. shall be distinctly differera and shall be <br /> automatically transmitted to an approved Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Central Station <br /> Service as specified in NFPA 72-1996 Edition. <br /> <br /> 2. All Fire alarm system(s) alarm initiation and signaling shall comply with the <br /> provisions in Uniform f.ire Code Section 1007.3.3.3. <br /> <br />Valve monitoring and water-flow alarm and trouble signals shall be distinctly different anti <br />shall be automatically transmitted to an approved central station, remote station or proprietary <br />monitoring station as defined by national standards. or, when approved by the building official <br />with the concurrence of the chief of the fire deparmaent, sound an audible signal at a <br />constantly artended location. <br /> <br />· 20.24,150 UFC Section 1007.2.1.3 amended-Fire Alarm Company Pe,~u;.t and <br /> Oualifications. <br /> <br />UFC Section 1007.2.1.3 is added to the Uniform Fire Code to read: <br /> <br />Section 1007.2.1.3 <br /> <br />1. No person(s) may install or service any fire alarm system or automatic ~m <br />extinguishing system unless they have received a permit to conduct such activity under <br />the provisions of this section. <br /> <br />2. To receive a permit, each person(s) must submit an application and permit fee to <br />the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department. The permit shall be issued when the <br />Department determines that: <br /> <br /> (a) The applicant has proper equipment and is sufficiently qualified to perform <br /> installation and servicing of fire alarm systems. <br /> <br /> (b) The applicant meets the National Alarm Code (NFPA 72-1996 Ed.) <br /> requirements for the installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of <br /> Central Station Service fire alarm systems. The Fire Prevention Bureau <br /> may grant exemptlona from such requirements where it determines that an <br /> exemption is necessary to protect public health, safety, and welfare. <br /> <br /> <br />
