City of Pleasanton, Engineering Services 4291.5.051.01
Laurel Creek Estates GHAD May 24, 2005
PROPOSAL FOR GHAD MONITORING Revised June 17, 2005
Page 2

Upon the City of Pleasanton's acceptance of the public improvements within the Kolb Ranch
Estates, we propose to initiate and perform site reconnaissance twice a year to satisfy the monitoring
requirements of the GHAD in accordance with Reference 3. The inspection schedule will be
integrated into the existing schedule for the Laurel Creek Estates. Prior to the initial monitoring
event, we will review previously published geoteehnical reports and geologic maps for the Kolb
Ranch. Items that will be addressed during the monitoring events include a reconnaissance of
common area slopes located adjacent to improvements; observation of areas of known landslide
repair undertaken during the mass grading operations; observation of known readily accessible
subdrain outlets installed during the mass grading; observation of the lined surface drainage ditches
and catch basin inlets for debris; and observation of selected curb and gutter alignments.
For Laurel Creek Estates (including Oak Hill Estates), we propose to conduct each
regularly-scheduled twice-a-year monitoring event for a fixed-fee of $2,000 per event, including
the preparation of a summary observation letter. We will conduct additional inspection events on an
as-needed basis (e.g. whenever rainfall exceeds 2 inches in a 24-hour period as reported by local
monitoring stations) for a fixed-fee of $1,700 per event, including the summary report.
Upon the annexation of the Kolb Ranch Estates into the Laurel Creek Estates, we propose to
conduct each regularly-scheduled twice-a-year monitoring event for a fixed fee of $2,400 per event,
including the preparation of a summary observation letter. We will conduct additional inspection
events on an as-needed basis (e.g. whenever rainfall exceeds 2 inches in a 24-hour period as
reported by local monitoring stations) for a fixed-fee of $1,700 per event, including the summary
report.
Our office can continue the GHAD monitoring program upon receiving your authorization to
proceed. Our office maintains a staff of geotechnical engineers, geologists and erosion control
specialists to respond if evidence of active slope erosion or instability is observed during the GHAD
monitoring.

We look forward to our continued service working with you on this monitoring program. If the
proposed scope of work and fee estimates is acceptable to you, please issue your standard contract
for signature as authorization to proceed. If you have any questions regarding the proposal, please
do not hesitate to contact us.

Very truly yours,
ENGEO INCORPORATED Reviewed by

Donald E.
