CITY OF PLEASANTON
VINEYARD & BERNAL AVENUES STREETSCAPE
MAY 25,2004

A. SCOPE OF WORK

2.3.3.

Coordinate Utility Design - As design progresses,
CONSULTANT will track the final utility relocation design and
schedule such that relocation occurs so as not to impede the
overall final PS&E approvals and actual construction timeline. The
City will be kept informed of the progress made. CONSULTANT
will rely on the City's influence and authority over the utility to make
project timelines as outlined in the project schedule approved by
the City.

Fees charged by the utility companies for the provision of utility
services for the traffic signal installation are not included in
CONSULTANT's fee proposal.

2.3.4.

Catalog of Existing Facilities - Bellecci will prepare a catalog of
existing utilities, which is standard for our roadway design projects.
We have found this to be a time efficient way of tracking existing
facilities. First we take a separate photo of all surface evident
facilities within the limit of work. Each facility is numbered, and the
action of work for each facility is explained on a spreadsheet. After
completion of the Catalog of Existing Facilities, the spreadsheet
can be easily added to the plans, using LDD3 software.

3. PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING

3.1. Preliminary Plans

3.1.1.

Preliminary Design - CONSULTANT will prepare at 20 scale, a
preliminary design that reflects all proposed improvements and
modifications as evaluated through the process thus far. The plan
will identify in a the proposed intersection geometry, pavement
delineation, median configurations, striping, crosswalk location and
treatment, landscape and irrigation notes, bus stops, traffic
channelization, and other information as deemed appropriate by the
design team. A preliminary cost analysis will be furnished to
accompany the design for evaluation of proposed improvements
and modifications. These plans may include preliminary
construction details, materials and/or product manufacturers,
catalog cut sheets. The intent of this package is to establish the
"design intent" that will be incorporated throughout the project.

3.1.2.

Develop Key Typical Section - CONSULTANT will prepare cross
sections of the proposed improvements. The cross section will
reveal total limits of roadway excavation, hardscape, landscape,

B~LL~CC~ & AssoclA~ mc.
