OLD BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARINGS

Tentative Tract MaD 6452. Sitmature Prooerties (Rubv Hill)
Application Cor approval of a vesting tentative map to subdivide approximately 1,600
acres of land located in the vicinity of Vineyard Avenue east of Montevino Drive, and
Vallecitos Road south of Vineyard Avenue. The property would be divided into 850
single-family residential lots, with a golf course, country club, vineyard, winery, and
retail and recreational lots.

Application continued to January 8, 1992.

GP-91-5. City of Pleasanton
Application to amend the Circulation Element of the General Plan to delete reference to
light rail transit along the abandoned Southern Pacific corridor, and/or to modify or
delete the "transportation corridor" shown along the north side of Stanley Boulevard
between First Street and Valley Avenue.

Mr. Rasmussen presented the staff report recommending approval of Case GP-91-5. He
called attention to a letter from Joe Madden expressing support for staffs recommendation.

Commissioner Michelotti queried Mr. Rasmussen if the deletion of the sentence "These
corridors could be used for light rail transit sometime in the future" would preclude the use
of a wine train, should that become a desire in the future. Commissioner
Hovingh and Chairman Mahem responded that the City of Pleasanton is simply trying to give
a message to Alameda and Contra Costa Counties that they do not wish to encourage light
rail.

Commissioner Horan continued to say that he felt a train could run through or near
someone's back yard, if the sentence is deleted.

THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED.

There were no speakers.

THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CWSED.

Commissioner Horan felt that if the recommended sentence was deleted, that further
reference to bikes, buses and other modes of transportation should also be deleted. After
further discussion with the Commission, he continued to feel that the sentence was

Minutes Planning Commission
December 11, 1991

Page 3

,

.
