He felt that it is very beneficial for the chairman, and in turn for the rest of the Commission, for a chairman to remain in that position for more than one term in order to become more proficient. Mr. Swift said the Commission could initiate a Code change, but did not feel it is necessary. Commissioner Michelotti felt that since Chairman Mahern had simply been appointed chairman because of the resignation of Joyce Berger that this constituted an unusual circumstance and did not feel amending the Code was really necessary. Lengthy discussion ensued. The Commission concluded that it was not necessary to amend the Code, but felt it was appropriate to re-elect Chairman Mahern. A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by Commissioner McGuirk nominating Chairman Mahern as chairman and Commissioner Hovingh as vice chairman. Response to Items Initiated by Commission Members at the April 24, 1991 meeting. Kottinger Drive - Mirador Drive Mr. Swift said that the Traffic Engineers are checking into this matter. However, they seem to be of the opinion that restriping to not allow parking at the corner of Kottinger Drive and Mirador Drive might make matters worse. He will report back at a later date. Muirwood Drive North Mr. Swift said that the Traffic Engineers are in the process of correcting the obstruction of the right turn lane at Muirwood Drive North on to Foothill Road. 3. Commissioner Michelotti noted that the possible extension of the Niles Canyon railway from Sunol to Pleasanton had been discussed at the Park and Recreation meetings.
