~

Commissioner Hovingh asked that any variances for these two signs be heard by
the Planning Commission.

5. Chairman Mahern asked whether May is normally the time to change the
Commissioners' positions on the Design Review Board and Human Services.

Mr. Swift said he would check the Code but thinks it is the first meeting in May.
Commissioner Hovingh is slated to go to the Design Review Board, with
Commissioner Wright being the representative on the Human Services Commission.

OLD BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARINGS

UP-90-27. Oil Chanaers/Li'1 Bears Car Wash
Application for a conditional use permit to allow the establishment and operation of
an oil changing facility and self-service car wash located on the west side of First
Street, approximately 40 feet south of Stanley Boulevard. Zoning for the property
is C-S (Service Commercial) District.

Withdrawn.

NEW BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARINGS

UP-91-8. Pleasanton Auto Reoair and Service
Application for a conditional use permit to operate an automobile repair facility
located at 3880 Old Santa Rita Road. Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit
Development) - Commercial Service District.

Mr. Swift presented the staff report and recommended approval of Case UP-91-8
subject to the conditions of the staff report.

Commissioner Hovingh called attention to Condition 9. He asked whether this
means a wrecked or disabled auto. Mr. Swift said this means a wrecked car; it
does not mean storage for a car that cannot be moved. He further clarified that if
a car belongs in a wrecking yard, it does not belong on this site.

Commissioner McGuirk further clarified that if a part of the car were removed
simply to be worked on that it would still be meeting the conditions of approval.

Commissioner Horan discussed Condition 3 with Mr. Swift. He felt that the term
"insertion of fluids" was misleading and thought it should be deleted. Mr. Swift
said staff would have no problem deleting "insertion".

~

MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION APRIL 24. 1991 Page 3

..

-
