<br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br /> <br />1. Commissioner Hovingh called staff's attention to a recycling <br />bin at Muirwood Drive North and W. Las positas. He thought it <br />was an inappropriate location. Mr. Swift said the owner has <br />already been notified that it must be removed. <br /> <br />2. commissioner Michelotti called staff's attention to the <br />landscaping on Hopyard Road and Parks ide Drive; also along <br />Foothill Road at the soundwalls. She noted that much of it had <br />been frozen and asked if there are funds available to replace <br />these plants, if they do not come back. Mr. Swift replied that <br />as this is the second time this matter has come up, he will <br />prepare a report on the issue; staff is checking into the amount <br />of water that will be available for city landscape purposes which <br />will determine the kind of landscaping that can be done. <br /> <br />3. Commissioner Michelotti noted that when they get a report <br />from city council there are cases at times that are modified by <br />Council. The City Manager has agreed to supply the Design Review <br />Board and Planning commission with a report showing what those <br />modifications are. <br /> <br />4. commissioner McGuirk thanked Bill van Gelder, Traffic <br />Engineer for action taken on the traffic signal operation at <br />Stoneridge Drive and springdale Avenue. <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />5. Commissioner McGuirk called attention to a lot of concrete <br />that has been dumped on Pleasant Hill Road near the Goldcreek <br />homes. Mr. Higdon replied that the contractor is temporarily <br />stacking the concrete as street aprons are being removed. The <br />concrete will be removed from that location. <br /> <br />6. Commissioner McGuirk asked staff if the Commission is <br />supposed to get involved in matters regarding school facilities. <br />Mr. Swift replied the Commission does not become involved in <br />these matters. <br /> <br />7. Chairman Mahern stated that the City Manager is requesting <br />that a Planning commissioner be a member of the Downtown <br />Association Committee that is going to get started in May. She <br />asked if any of the Commissioners would wish to volunteer for <br />this position. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Mr. swift explained the Committee will be looking at the three <br />studies that have been completed for the realignment of Ray <br />Street; the extension of Railroad Avenue; and the downtown <br />landscaping and beautification plan. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hovingh asked whether the meetings would be day or <br />evening, as day evenings would be difficult for most of the <br />commission to attend.
