Mr. Iserson presented the staff report recommending approval of this application to the City Council, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B." Mr. Iserson stated the arbor would be constructed of heavy redwood timbers, matching the color and design of other arbors on the City Hall building. Commissioner Wright has concern that the Centennial sign hung with chain could be vandalized. Mr. Iserson stated that other signs of the same nature downtown have not been vandalized. Chairman McGuirk asked if the initials PCEA could be spelled out so the general public would know they mean "Pleasanton City Employees' Association," thereby giving them their due recognition. Mr. Iserson stated that staff could look at designing two signs or perhaps installing a plaque. PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. Greg Plucker, President of the Pleasanton City Employees' Association, represented this application. He stated that he has read and agrees with the staff report. Mr. Plucker believes the name Pleasanton City Employees' Association could be incorporated into the signage in 2-3 inch letters centered above the words Centennial Arbor that are in 4-6 inch letters. Mr. Plucker also felt the addition of a plaque commemorating the dedication of the arbor and the participants contributing to the arbor could be added to the arbor. PUBLIC HEARING WAS CWSED. A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by Commissioner Wright, approving Case Z-94-05 subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B," with the following modification: · The applicant will work with staff on the design of the sign, spelling out "Pleasanton City Employees' Association."
