COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

~

Frank Berloger, 2200 Vineyard Avenue, spoke in support of the a lication and felt it was a
very good project. However, he does not favor a second access ro d and feels it would be a
major intrusion on a number of residences. He noted that his own roperty might be subject
to some intrusion in the course of building the project, but he felt onfident that this could be
worked out.

Jim Happ, 1119 Blanc Court, represented the Crissman's on 1944 ineyard Avenue, next
door to Frank Berloger's property. He said the project is one of nicer ones seen in the
area and they fully support it. However, they do not favor a seco access road and
indicated that as planned it would go about 150 ft. past their house and would be totally
visible to them.

Don Temple, 6409 Alisal, stated that he is a local resident who 0 s his own well. He
expressed concern that if the project should begin to pump from th ir own wells, that it
might very drastically affect his well. He noted that in the last y when people nearby
began pumping from their wells, that his water level went down ab ut three feet. He called
attention to news articles commenting on the pumping of Bay Area sewage into the Bay, and
suggested that the applicant andlor City look seriously into the recl . ming of local sewage.
Mr. Temple further expressed concerns about traffic and how it w uld affect his area and
those adjacent to it. Even though he is an avid golfer, he had conc rns about the project.

Frank Belecky, 892 Madeira Drive, stated he is concerned about
Drive if a second access road is installed.

fic impacts on Arbor

Mr. Swift responded to Mr. Belecky's concern, stating that there s ould be no impact on
Arbor Drive unless the access would be from Red Feather Court. he haul road is planned
to go through the Berloger property which should not affect Arbor r Madeira Drives, and
would be closed down once construction is over.

Mr. Belecky stated that the main concern of residents in the adjoi ng neighborhoods is a
great increase of traffic to Concord Street emanating from the proj t. He asked that this be
taken into consideration. He noted that Madeira Drive had experie ced a great amount of
traffic when Vintage Hills was being constructed and hoped this w uld not happen again. He
stated he is also concerned about water conservation and its effect n the residents of
Pleasanton. He understood that the more water that is purchased f om the state, the more it
costs. He felt in that way this project and future projects could co t existing residents more
money.

Chairman Hovingh clarified for Mr. Belecky that the projects that
Growth Management are conditioned so that if water rationing is
will not be issued.

aye been approved for
datory, building permits

~

Susan Long, 3735 Grillo Court, stated that her main concern with
traffic on Concord Street. Grillo Court is accessed off Concord.
Street already becomes blocked at times because of school traffic,

he project is increased
he noted that Concord
d that if the proj ect

Planning Commission Minutes August 12, 1992

Page 7
